Halfway Now Has Business Expense Tracking -- and Your Accountant Will Thank You

If you freelance, run a side hustle, or own a business, you already know the pain: personal and business expenses living in the same account, a P&L that lives in a spreadsheet you haven't opened since March, and tax season arriving like a surprise guest who eats everything in your fridge.

Halfway's new Business Tracking feature fixes that -- without needing a separate app.

What's New

Premium users can now enable Business Tracking in settings to unlock:

  1. Business vs personal categorization -- automatically or manually, so your coffee meeting and your grocery run never end up in the same bucket again
  2. Live P&L view -- see your revenue and expenses in real time, not just at the end of the quarter when it's too late to do anything about it
  3. Schedule C view -- your business expenses are already organized the way the IRS wants them, making tax prep dramatically less painful

Built for Couples Too

If both you and your partner run separate businesses, you each get your own independent business tracking. Your numbers stay yours. Halfway just holds it all in one place.

This is especially useful when one partner is salaried and the other is self-employed -- a combination that makes shared budgeting genuinely complicated. Now you can see the full financial picture together, even when your income structures look nothing alike.

How to Turn It On

Business Tracking is currently in beta and available to all Halfway Premium users. To enable it, go to Settings and turn on Business Tracking. That's it.

Why This Matters

Most budgeting apps are built for salaried employees with predictable paychecks. If you're self-employed, you've always been an afterthought. Halfway was already built for couples with unequal incomes -- adding business tracking is the natural next step for the growing number of couples where at least one partner earns variable or business income.

This is just the beginning of what we're building for self-employed couples. More coming soon.
