The gap nobody was filling
The top personal finance apps in France right now are Finary, Bankin, and Linxo. They are well-built apps with real audiences. But none of them address the specific challenge of two partners with different incomes trying to split shared expenses fairly. They track what you spend. They do not help you figure out who should pay what, and why.
That gap exists in English too. But for French-speaking couples it is even more pronounced because the tools that do solve the income split problem, Halfway included until now, were only available in English.
Why this matters to us
French is spoken by over 300 million people across more than 30 countries. Quebec, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Morocco, Senegal. Couples everywhere are navigating shared finances, different salaries, and the quiet resentment that builds when the split feels wrong but nobody knows how to fix it.
Halfway was built on one idea: fair finances should be accessible to everyone. That means splitting expenses based on what each partner actually earns, not an arbitrary 50/50 default. And it means accessible in the language you actually speak.
